Sermon Text: Ephesians 3:7-10
Related OT Scripture: Isaiah 19:18-25
We will have the joy of celebrating the ordinance of baptism this week! As we do so, we will corporately reaffirm our own commitment to Christ with the following profession of faith, adapted from The Worship Sourcebook:
Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of evil that rebel against God?
Yes, I renounce them!
Do you renounce all sinful desires that draw you from the love of God?
Yes, I renounce them!
Are you trusting by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation?
Yes! I trust only in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
Do you intend to be Christ’s faithful disciple, trusting his promises, obeying his Word, honoring his church, and showing his love, as long as you live?
Yes! With God helping me.
Do you believe in God the Father?
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended to heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
